Fun and Fundraising Day at Hill House - See Picture opposite

Hill House maintains close links with Rowcroft, our nurses frequently attending their training sessions and liaising with the Rowcrofts’ nurses. On the 8th October Julie Jones our dedicated activities organiser held a “Fun and Fundraising Day” for our residents, their relatives and friends in aid of Rowcroft Hospice. Julie organised a tombola stall, a cake stall, an auction and musical entertainment from a local singer.

Julie also decided to give up smoking on the 8th September and was sponsored to remain smoking free for one month! This was so very difficult for her but she managed it, and is still smoking free! Her sponsor money came to over £160.00 with all the proceeds going to Rowcroft Hospice. One of our residents’ relatives joined in and gave up alcohol for the same month and donated the money she would have spent! Staff, relatives and friends got busy and baked cakes for sale and Julie thanked them all,  but especially the owners of the nursing home, Golfhill Ltd, who doubled the amount of money raised to a massive £760.00!! We were very pleased to welcome Carolyn Williams, a volunteer ambassador for Rowcroft Hospice, on the 19th November when she visited to collect the cheque at a short presentation at Hill House.

Some recent testimonials:

Dad was always happy with you from the minute he came to Hill House. We will remember always his 95th birthday and the wonderful cake and song. You are all a credit to the home and ensure that is full of love, care and happiness. Our sincere thanks and best wishes. V&J

We would like to express our sincere thanks to all of you at Hill House for the most professional sympathetic and loving manner in which you looked after my mother Joan over the three and a half years she was in residence with you. I am sure your care greatly extended her life and I know that she had many fun afternoons with the entertainment provided in the lounges. TJ

Hill House is a very special place and the work you do can't be praised highly enough. Please know what a difference you made to the whole family and how much your love and laughter helped. S&G

My mother felt at home at Hill House but also we felt at peace that my mother was in such kind and highly professional, capable hands. I am sure you are very proud of your staff - the vital factor that gives Hill House the reputation it deserves. MKB

I would like to express my thanks for the loving care your staff gave to MS during her stay with you. The quality of your staff is exceptional and I would appreciate it if you could pass on my thanks to them. CC

We wanted to let you know how positive everyone we spoke to was about the staff and support they receive at Hill house. "First class, top notch, they are more like friends, they know your name and treat you like individuals, so caring can't fault them" were among the many positive comments we heard. Thank you for the wonderful work you do. RB-T

My husband was fast tracked into this beautiful home and was there for 10 days. He was extremely well looked after in lovely surroundings. The care he had from beginning to end was exemplary as was the kindness and care to myself and family. DS

During the time my wife was at Hill House she was nursed with such tender loving care that was humanly possible. In that time I felt all the staff were friends and I have since returned to have tea and biscuits with them. When I first visited I was immediately impressed by the whole atmosphere and cleanliness. I am so glad I found Hill House. WJ

Outstanding in every department. Staff are caring and helpful. A wonderful peaceful place to be. Words fail to express the human spirit of compassion and love expressed by all concerned. SM

I cannot express how grateful I am for the care and compassion shown to my mum in the last 7 months of her life. The care, nursing and admin teams, even the kitchen and laundry staff could not do enough to ensure my mum was comfortable and cared for, not to mention the hours just sat holding her hand when she needed company. Thoroughly recommended. KM
